WPW10643261 - Genuine OEM Whirlpool Refrigerator Evaporator

WPW10643261 - Genuine OEM Whirlpool Refrigerator Evaporator

The WPW10643261 Genuine OEM Whirlpool Refrigerator Evaporator is an original Whirlpool replacement part designed for compatible refrigerators. The evaporator is a critical component of the refrigerator's sealed cooling system and functions as the heat exchanger that removes heat to help maintain proper refrigerator temperatures. Whirlpool's official parts network identifies WPW10643261 as an OEM Whirlpool part.

This genuine OEM refrigerator evaporator is available through Appliance Kingdom for customers across Canada. It is a suitable replacement when diagnosis confirms that the existing evaporator is damaged, leaking, or otherwise preventing the refrigerator from cooling correctly.

Function & Importance of the Evaporator

The evaporator is the heat exchanger responsible for absorbing heat from inside the refrigerator as refrigerant passes through the sealed refrigeration system. This heat-transfer process is essential for producing the cold temperatures required for food storage.

Because the evaporator is part of the sealed refrigerant system, the replacement must have the correct specifications, dimensions, connections, and refrigerant-system compatibility for the appliance. Using a genuine OEM component helps provide the intended fit and cooling-system performance.

When an evaporator develops a leak, becomes damaged, or otherwise fails, the refrigerator may lose cooling performance. Depending on the nature of the failure, you may notice inadequate cooling, excessive frost or ice on the evaporator area, or temperatures that do not remain within the expected range.

Common Symptoms of a Faulty Refrigerator Evaporator

A refrigerator with an evaporator problem may experience:

• Refrigerator is not cooling properly

• Refrigerator or freezer temperatures are too warm

• Excessive frost or ice accumulation around the evaporator

• Refrigerator cooling performance gradually decreases

• The appliance runs for extended periods without maintaining the correct temperature

• A sealed-system refrigerant leak causes loss of cooling performance

A refrigerator-side evaporator that is completely frosted can also be associated with cooling problems.

Will Replacing WPW10643261 Fix My Refrigerator?

Replacing WPW10643261 can restore proper cooling when the evaporator has been confirmed as the cause of the refrigerator's cooling problem.

However, poor cooling can also result from other refrigerator components, including the compressor, condenser system, fans, controls, or defrost system. A proper diagnosis should therefore be completed before replacing the evaporator.

If the evaporator has a refrigerant leak or another confirmed failure, replacing the evaporator and properly servicing the sealed system can restore the refrigerator's cooling capability.

Compatibility Guidance

WPW10643261 is a refrigerator evaporator used in compatible Whirlpool and other Whirlpool-manufactured appliance applications. Authoritative parts sources identify it for refrigerator use and document compatibility with certain Whirlpool, KitchenAid and Kenmore applications.

Always verify the complete model number of your refrigerator before ordering. Do not rely solely on the appliance brand or appearance because different refrigerator models can use different evaporators.

Installation Overview

Replacing a refrigerator evaporator is a complex sealed-system repair and is not considered a typical DIY appliance repair.

The repair requires the refrigeration system to be opened, the refrigerant to be properly recovered, the defective evaporator replaced, and the system evacuated and recharged using appropriate professional equipment. Sears PartsDirect specifically recommends that a service technician perform this repair because it involves recovering and recharging refrigerant in the sealed system.

Professional installation by a qualified appliance or refrigeration technician is strongly recommended for WPW10643261.
