WP2263920 - Genuine OEM Whirlpool Refrigerator Evaporator

The WP2263920 Genuine OEM Whirlpool Refrigerator Evaporator is an original Whirlpool replacement component designed for compatible refrigerators. This genuine OEM evaporator is part of the refrigerator's sealed cooling system and helps transfer heat from inside the appliance so the refrigeration system can maintain the required temperature. Whirlpool's official parts network identifies WP2263920 as an OEM Whirlpool evaporator, and PartSelect identifies it as an official OEM part manufactured by Whirlpool.

Appliance Kingdom supplies genuine appliance replacement parts to customers across Canada, with Canada-wide shipping and support for homeowners, landlords, property managers, and professional appliance technicians.

Function & Importance of the Evaporator

The evaporator is a critical component of a refrigerator's refrigeration system. Refrigerant passes through the evaporator, allowing heat to be absorbed from the refrigerated space. This heat-transfer process is essential for producing the cold temperatures needed to preserve food.

WP2263920 is installed behind the freezer back panel on compatible refrigerator designs. A properly functioning evaporator works together with the refrigerator's other sealed-system components to support normal cooling performance.

Because the evaporator is part of the sealed refrigeration system, using the correct OEM component is important. The replacement must match the refrigerator's design and refrigeration-system specifications to support proper operation and reliable long-term performance.

Common Symptoms of a Refrigerator Evaporator Problem

A damaged or malfunctioning evaporator can contribute to refrigerator cooling problems. Depending on the specific failure, customers may notice:

• Refrigerator or freezer not cooling properly
• Inadequate cooling performance
• Temperature problems despite the refrigerator running
• Water leaking onto the floor in some failure conditions
• Cooling performance that becomes inconsistent

AppliancePartsPros specifically identifies WP2263920 as a replacement for refrigerator cooling issues and water leaking on the floor, while Whirlpool's parts information categorises the component as a refrigerator evaporator.

Will Replacing WP2263920 Fix My Refrigerator?

It can, if the evaporator has been correctly diagnosed as the cause of the cooling problem.

Cooling problems can also originate from other refrigerator components, including other sealed-system or airflow-related components. Replacing the evaporator should therefore be based on a proper diagnosis rather than symptoms alone.

For sealed-system repairs, professional diagnosis and installation are strongly recommended.

Installation Overview

Replacing an evaporator is a specialised refrigerator repair because the component is part of the sealed refrigeration system. The repair generally requires access behind the freezer back panel and specialised refrigeration-service equipment.

This is not typically recommended as a basic DIY repair. A qualified appliance or refrigeration technician should perform the replacement, particularly because sealed-system work can involve refrigerant recovery, evacuation, leak testing, and recharging procedures.

Always disconnect electrical power and follow the manufacturer's service procedures before servicing the appliance.
